The engine's errors

Every error the engine can report, from its one declared list (tools/lusine/errors.py). Each is a code, which the control channel's refused field carries (the set is closed: a code outside it is a protocol failure), a line in every language the status panel shows with its slots filled, and the line's lifetime on the panel: dismissed stays until the player dismisses it or the next event replaces it, timeline clears when the timeline passes. A failure that is not a row here cannot be reported. Generated at build from the list and the catalogue, so it cannot disagree with either.

Code When Slots Lifetime Answered by
bad-request the request's shape: a missing or ill-typed argument, a field outside its declared range operation: the operation asked for; argument: the argument at fault dismissed describe, compile, drop, call, read, load, append, remove, save, restore, quit
name a name the definition does not declare, refused where it is written name: the name as written dismissed drop, call, read, load, append, remove, save, restore
stamp an action stamped with a step already passed, or a readout past the engine's history step: the step it was meant for; now: the step the world is at dismissed
action an action the game's own rule refuses: out of turn, out of balls action: the action refused dismissed
size a load whose extents the running scene cannot take got: the save's extents; expected: the extents this world takes dismissed restore
io a file that cannot be read or written path: the file dismissed save, restore
not-in-this-build an operation or a readout the release does not carry (ship=False), in a release build: an instrument, refused by code rather than absent operation: the operation or readout asked for dismissed
script-timeout a script's done for a step that came after the step's budget: the engine went on without its operations step: the step the script did not finish in time dismissed
declare a declare whose text is not one line of Trait's runtime subset (readout, event, band, say, sound, setting, panel, on), or is not well formed expected: what the subset takes at that column dismissed
unresolved a name in declared text that resolves to no declaration the session can reach name: the name as written dismissed
ambiguous a name declared twice under one owner name: the name declared again dismissed
owner a declaration under another owner's name, or a reach into another session's name: the name as written; owner: whose it is dismissed
unit an expression whose dimensions disagree, or a readout whose expression is not in its declared unit got: the unit the expression has; expected: the unit declared dismissed
slot a line's slot with no band and no event field to fill it, or a key no declaration names slot: the slot dismissed
budget a declaration past the session's budget of live reduce instances limit: how many the session may hold dismissed
device a Vulkan object or call the engine needs failed what: what the engine was making or doing; result: the Vulkan result dismissed
unsupported an operation this device or this build cannot do: GPU timestamps a run needs, a second compute queue a measurement needs, a developer build a ship=false pass needs operation: the operation asked for; feature: what it needs and lacks here dismissed compile, drop, call, read, load, append, remove, save, restore
ir a game's compiled program refused at load: one this engine cannot run, or a tuning table beside it of another shape file: the file refused; what: what in it this engine does not run dismissed
save a save refused for what it holds, its size and its file aside: another game's, a quantity missing, or one of another kind, element, unit or quantum path: the save; what: what in it does not fit this world dismissed restore
capacity a list's appends in one step past its capacity: the step keeps the first in item order and drops the rest list: the list; dropped: how many appends the step dropped dismissed
command-line a launch argument the engine does not take argument: the argument as given dismissed
compile a session's Trait source the compiler refuses: its refusals in trait's words, session:LINE:COLUMN: code: why, the line and column of the first in the text sent refusal: trait's first refusal, as it gave it dismissed compile, drop
token a listener's connection whose first request does not carry the token its token setting asks: the connection is closed dismissed
